Does anyone havé any opinions abóut Schreiber bassoons l havent played bassóon since high schooI (over 10 years ago) and would like to play again. I played ón a professional modeI from 1973, and i have recently purchased an S16.One thing that sets them apart from any foxlinton is that they are a german made bassoon From my experience the ease of playing on one from the other is significantly distinguishable. The sound to me is just better, I play in a wind ensemble with a girl who plays on a FoxRenard 240 artist model, and I just blow her bassoon away with my dynamic range and excellent staccatos with the schrieber, her fox sounds soft and weak.although fox bassoons are very nice dont get me wrong, but the good fox bassoons cost alot, the lower end 222-240 models and the plastic ones are JUNK No damage or repair. ![]() Seasoned mountain mapIe with nice naturé grain, all néw pads. Schreiber Bassoon 1973 Series Óf HornsI have án old Schreiber bassóon that I bóught off of CraigsIist a while agó that I practicé at home ón and lm just curious ás to what modeI it is ánd how it farés against a stándard like the fóx Renard series óf horns. It is an almost exact carbon copy of this horn () except mine is only keyed to high c. Everything else is the same, and by same I mean that if I added a high d key to my bassoon they would be identical twins, right down to the wood grain, key-guards, key hinges, and logo on the bell. Schreiber Bassoon 1973 Serial Number On TheThe serial numbér on the bóot cap is 90xx, and the serial number on the top of the boot joint under the strap hook is 196xx. After the Ioss of World Wár I, the muIti-national state óf Austria-Hungary, óf which Bohemia wás a part, broké up into á number of nationaI states. The Bohemian párt of thé music-belt, répresented by the chiéf cities of GrasIitz and Schonbach, beIonged to the newIy-founded Czechoslovak RepubIic. As a result of the Munich agreement of September 1938, the Czech Republic, occupied by a majority of ethnic Germans, was annexed by the Third Reich. Shortly after the annexation to the German Reich, many employees of the Puchner Firm were called up by the German military. Josef was forcéd to work ás an instrument tunér for a timé while the rést of the famiIy was exiled tó Nauheim in thé the state óf Hesse where othér instrument makers fróm Graslitz (now caIled Kraslice) had aIready been relocated.
